Our Mission
Our great hope is in the true story of God’s amazing grace. As we walk together, grace continually forms our lives, our families, our neighbors, our city, and our world. Grace Changes Everything.
Our Values
The Lord has called us together from different places and backgrounds to be one people who share a common story of being loved and redeemed by Jesus Christ, a common identity as God’s beloved children, and a common dependence on the Holy Spirit as every member endeavors to use their unique gifts to love and serve God and each other for the advancement of His Kingdom.
As a church, we believe the Lord is calling us to be:
A People Shaped by Grace
It is by grace that we are set free to be who God has made us to be, and to show grace to one another. God’s grace enables us to be honest about our imperfections, a people without pretense, and to forgive as we have been forgiven through Christ. We want to provide a home for sufferers and sinners (like us) who are coming to know the heart of Christ more and more.
A People Known for Love
Jesus said to His disciples that, above all, they were to be known by their love for one another. We endeavor to be a humble, self-forgetful people, willing to lay down our own interests and lives for the benefit of others. We seek to be a people who see every individual compassionately, uniquely created by God in His image.
A People Committed to Truth
In a world of ever-changing “truth,” we are dedicated to the unchanging truths of God’s Word, which are breathed by God and remain timelessly relevant and impactful. We seek to rightly understand and interpret the Scriptures, and apply them to all of life.
A People Cultivating Belonging
In a world in which isolation and loneliness are often the sad reality, we seek to connect people to God, and to the story of what He’s done and is doing in our world, creating for Himself a people who belong to Him and belong to one another. We hope that everyone who engages in our community – children and adults of all ages, abilities, cultures, and backgrounds – will experience being truly known and deeply loved by the Lord and one another. We pray that our differences will be valued and celebrated.
A People Relying on Prayer
We are learning to rely less on ourselves and more on the Lord, His wisdom, power, and love. We confess our need for the Lord to be at work in and through us, not just in desperate times but all the time. God is alive, active, and interested in everything we do, so we talk to Him about everything.
A People Living on Mission
We desire to live with purpose, not for our name, but for His name to be glorified. We desire to compassionately love and serve our city and the surrounding areas in such a way that people would miss us if we were not here. We love to collaborate with other churches and organizations who are seeking to do good in our city with the common purpose of blessing its people. We want to join the Lord on His mission in the world.
Our Beliefs
Seven Hills Presbyterian Church is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). We are dedicated to the unchanging truths of God’s Word, the Old and New Testament Scriptures. Seven Hills remains rooted in the truths confessed in the historic creeds of the church (The Apostles' Creed, Athanasian Creed, and Nicene Creed). Church officers and commissioned leaders make a good faith subscription to the Westminster Confession of Faith, committing to its doctrines while stating non-essential differences of belief.
We believe:
The Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.
There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons of the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
All people have sinned and are totally unable to save themselves.
Salvation is by God’s grace alone, through faith, not on any human individual merit.
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through His perfect life, sacrificial death, and bodily resurrection, has redeemed all who rest on Him alone for salvation.
God is faithful to His Covenant promises, which extend to the children of believers.
The Holy Spirit indwells God’s people and gives them the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow Him.
Jesus will one day return, bodily and visibly, to set all things right and receive His people to Himself.
All aspects of our lives are to be lived to the glory of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Everyone is invited to attend Seven Hills, regardless of what you believe or if you do not know what you believe. Members of the church are not required to agree with all of the theological positions of the church and denomination in order to be part of our community. While beliefs on secondary or tertiary matters of doctrine vary, our members believe the core of historic, Biblical faith, centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that God’s amazing grace changes everything.
Questions about Seven Hills or about what we believe? We’d love to hear from you! Please reach out to Pastor Matt, or to any of our staff or leaders.
